This American Bailout

This American Life did a nice piece with Alex Blumberg in Act IV of four acts of the broadcast in which they addressed the US government’s decision to essentially become "...a really badly run bank" in the bailout package (which may actually be a good thing). They also talked about how foreign government leaders that have let their respective economies reach this state in the past have been deposed or ousted, to paraphrase the program; not unlike what is echoed in campaign rhetoric at present. Highly recommended listening, even if you skip to Act IV of the program—short, but to the point.

This American Life dedicated their entire hour last week to the financial crisis. They also did an hour last May about what was then just the sub-prime lending crisis.
These are both chocked full of incredibly helpful information. I will join Aaron in giving them the highly recommended rating.

These same reporters (Adam Davidson, Alex Blumberg, etc.) are also publishing a daily podcast about the meltdown for NPR's Planet Money. The podcasts feature a great deal of in-depth but easy-to-understand reporting. They are refreshingly transparent about what they understand, think they understand, and could not hope to understand about the crisis. They are earning the Pulitzer of Podcasting, IMHO.

Found this at BuzzMachine. Jeff Jarvis agrees: Winners and losers in crisis coverage

I like Jeff's stuff a lot.
